Sweet Gifts
There were a couple of occasions this month that warrant the gifting of macarons. One of my dearest girlfriend, Ag welcomes and celebrates her 30th birthday (I'll be joining you soon!) and another, K will be leaving Singapore for Master's education in London for a year. Both are well-versed with their sweets and share my intense love for macs. Another colleague, T has never tasted a macaron before (the horrors!) and I felt that I had to do my part to get him acquainted with the world of these colourful treats. Though I did cite the concerns of mine putting him off them forever and not to pass judgments just based on them alone!
This task of creating three flavours to offer that variety equated to an almost full day of work. I apologise for being a tardy worker, but when it comes to making macs, the chances of failure are higher if you are going to be impatient and rush them along. Or that could just be my speed/ pace. Whatever it was, I was just glad for the positive results - I can't imagine the disappointment after slaving a whole day at this, though I must say that the purple and yellow ones turned out with slightly brittle shells. I would also have to up my dosage of Bailey's for future batches as it got seemingly lost in the buttercream.
I love seeing the look on my recipients' faces when they lighted up at the sight of them, which made all the work worthwhile. But who wouldn't, since they look so pretty in rows? To me, it was the best way of expressing my heartfelt thoughts for these occasions and that the recipients will be sharing and enjoying them with their loved ones.
