Back and Busy

I'm back and happy to be home. Bangkok was nice as usual, but I didn't had much fun by myself. Guess I'm not too much of a single traveller. Beijing wasn't half that bad, but I had higher expectations for it. The experience was marred by the fact that I was constantly rushing about with a (huge) crowd, being squashed like sardines in a subway or being stuck for hours in jams. I didn't quite take too well to Beijing's cuisine as well - everything was either too oily or too salty for my liking. In all honesty, I even prefer our local version of their national dish, the Peking duck. However highlights were in the form of taking a rickshaw ride around their Hutongs (alleys), sweeping the racks of adorable and affordable knick-knacks at Kodo (a lifestyle shop in Beijing), acquiring cheap art pieces at Silk Market and believe it or not - tasting one of the best steaks that I have eaten in my life. I kid you not....in good ol' China itself!

A fine piece of meat indeed!
Now that I'm back, I'm throwing myself whole-heartedly into doing up my new place and turning it into somewhere liveable. We have been pretty laidback with the whole thing, but we will need to buck up and quicken our pace if we are intending to move in by the start of 2012.

Our neighbours will probably hate us for starting our reno this late. Ooops.

P.S.: If you happen to be in Beijing, check out Steak Factory. I had two dinners there that left me in awe.

Locate it @ China World Trade Center NB-203, Chaoyang District
