20/20 Home Cure
Living independently means you have to start taking charge of everything - from the groceries to the cleaning. Toilet rolls or washing detergents are not going to magically appear when they deplete, just as when you were staying with your parents. I have been relatively competent at handling chores on a small square area i.e. my room, and even though my new house is far (very far, in fact!) from being a mansion, I am conscious of the need to put aside time and effort in attaining a tidy and clean environment for Alv and myself. Let's face it - who will consider household chores a hobby or something that you look forward to doing? If you do, let me know and I'll give you my number.
I recently stumbled upon the 20/20 Home Cure videos by Apartment Therapy and find them extremely useful. I'm certain a lot of my pals who just took on recent roles as home owners will be blown away by how these simple and little steps can aid in maintaining your lovely homes, well, lovely. So take some time and watch the videos from Day 1 to Day 20 here. For a quick start, you can also check out this wonderful and dare I say, inspirational, article - How to clean your house in 20 minutes a day for 30 days. Good luck with your home cure!
